Are you accepting new members?
From this September 12th, the Doors to Dulcetonia reopen and we will be both literally, and emotionally accepting new members with open arms. We are especially seeking male voices, plus the lower and higher end of lady voices.
Do I need to be a great singer / audition / read music?
Absolutely not... everything is taught by ear in a fun and informal (and occasionally sweary, but in a nice way) environment. There are guide audio tracks to our original arrangements that you’ll be hooked up with when you join, to help you practice at home / in the car / in the shower etc. Warning - it’s addictive! We cover lots of vocal technique as we go to help you connect deeply to the power of your own voice and get really playful with it, and like most things in life - the more you do it, the easier it gets. Whether you’re high or low or somewhere in between, there’s a place for you here.

Is performing mandatory?
Strongly and passionate encouraged - of course!
But mandatory - no.
Our shows are super fun (I would say that, but honest, ask the audience!) and we get up to all sorts of interesting collabs, then of course there's our epic karaoke parties!

What kind of music will we sing?
A huge variety of classic tunes and unusual treats, from deceptively simple 3 parters to epic 10 part disco! All completely a cappella - that means no naff backing tracks, just the awesome power of the human voice.
What's the level of commitment required?
Just all of your heart and soul, naturally - when you're singing!
Attendance wise, it is important to note that The Dulcetones is NOT a drop-in choir, and sign-ups run each half-term block. We (try to) show up for ourselves, and we (try to) show up for each other. Plus, we are able to make the kind of music and memories that simply wouldn't be possible without being a committed Dulcetone.
But we do of course recognise that life is BIG and can sometimes get in the way of flawless rehearsal attendance records; it won't be held against you. You'll get regular updates on what we're covering and learning/guide tracks are available to help learn and practice too, so you won't feel left behind if you miss the odd session.
Once more for luck - NOT DROP IN!

Absolutely. We believe in 'try before you buy'! Your first session is always free.
How much does it cost after my free first session?
£9 per week, paid half termly at the start of each block.
(Each half term block varies from 5-7 weeks and broadly follows Brighton & Hove term times)

What if missed the start of term boat but still want to join?
Just drop me a line so I can talk you though where we’re at and answer any questions. The start of term is always the best time to join, but please don't be put off if life gets in the way of that - it will depend on what us merry band of misfits are getting up to.
